a. An equation that can be used to find out the maximum number of snacks Marcus can buy is 1.25 + 0.75x = 5.45.

b To find this, we have to subtract 1.25 from both sides. Then we'll be left with 0.75x = 4.20. Divide 0.75 to dance out the x. Then do 4.20/0.75. 4.20/0.75 is 5 with a remainder left over. The highest number of snacks Marcus can buy is 5.

1.25 + 0.75x = 5.45 <== ur equation
0.75x = 5.45 - 1.25
0.75x = 4.20
x = 4.20 / 0.75
x = 5.6.....the maximum number of snacks he can buy is 5 <==
