Explanation:

Since you can't do literally 100 ounces of soda for 12 people, you can draw 12 boxes and tally mark them until you reach 100. At this point, it'd only be 96 and you won't be able to reach 100 because it wouldn't be equal. To prevent this, make 4 (the left out ones from 100) boxes and cut them into 12 pieces, and color them in. You would get 8 1/12 because there was 8 tally marks in each of the 12 boxes, and you colored in 1 of the 4 equally 12 cutted pieces.
