Two cars traveled equal distances in different amounts of time. Car A traveled the distance in 4 h, and Car B traveled the distance in 4.5 h. Car B traveled 5 mph slower than Car A. (The formula R⋅T=D , where R is the rate of speed, T is the time, and D is the distance can be used.) How fast did Car B travel? Enter your answer in the box.

Now solve for r...
4r = 2.4r + 52.8
1.6r = 52.8
r = 33 mph so that
r+22 = 55 mph (car A)Sorry I tool So long but.....Call the rate of car B, r.
Then the rate of car A is r+22.
Since d = rt, we can use this equation:
4r = 2.4(r+22) 55 MPh is your answer
