In the Declaration of Independence Jefferson talk at length about how they were ignored thoroughly by the British people. Recognizing the former countrymen to have equal rights as the colonists as an idea of humanity, Jefferson compel to break with the former countrymen. He stated that everyone should be treated equally instead of resorting to resentment of name-calling.

Lastly, Jefferson believed to note the complaints of the people against the king and British government.
