When a currency is weak, barter (choice D) may become the trading medium of choice. This has happened many times over the years: examples include Germany in the mid-20th century and Sub-Saharan Africa over the past half-century, in many countries. The currency became so devalued that trading objects themselves became of more utility for consumers than the actual printed currency.
