her mother had a "towering force" over her. She was "tall and true" while the narrator was a lot shorter. She's basically a small shadow of her mother in some ways.

In “Museum Indians” by Susan Power, the narrator and the mother have different personalities that could affect their perspectives of life. Power’s mother is a Native American who had to leave her tribe to obtain a job, suffering the mistreatment of others toward her culture. For this reason, she has a sad attitude that her daughter cannot understand, since Power is being raised in a city and has not contact to her mother’s people. Power is less spiritual, which leads to have communication problem with her mother.
