assume that the number of sodas jose drinks is m, number of sodas that yasmine drinks is n and number of sodas that sally drinks in p.
jose drinks twice as much as yasmine, this means that:
m = 2n ......» equation 1
sally drinks 3 fewer than jose, this means that:
p = m - 3 ......» equation 2
total number of sodas is 72, this means that:
m + n + p = 72 .......» equation 3
substitute by 1 and 2 in 3:
m + 0.5m + m - 3 = 72
2.5m = 75
m=30
substitute in 1:
30=2n ......» n=15
substitute in 2:
p=m-3 ......» p=27
based on these calculations:
jose drinks 30 sodas
yasmine drinks 15 sodas
sally drinks 27 sodas
