negation...means put " not " in both the hypothesis and conclusion

if a parallelogram DOES NOT have 4 congruent sides, then it is NOT a rhombus.

Answer:

The negation of the given statement is:

A parallelogram has four congruent sides and it is not a rhombus.

Explanation:

We know that for any conditional statement of the type:

If p then q

where p is the hypotheses and q is the conclusion then the negation of the statement is given by:

p and not q.

Here we are given a conditional statement as:

"If a parallelogram has four congruent sides then it is a rhombus".

Hence, the negation of this statement will be:

A parallelogram has four congruent sides and it is not a rhombus.
