eliminate y's
double the first equaiton
we get 6x-8y=-10
add to 2nd equation

6x-8y=-10
5x+8y=-1 +
11x+0y=-11

11x=-11
divide both sides by 11
x=-1
sub back

3x-4y=-5
3(-1)-4y=-5
-3-4y=-5
add 3 both sides
-4y=-8
divide both sides by -4
y=2

x=-1
y=2
(x,y)
(-1,2)

the solution is (-1,2)
