Jane and Sarah both dive down from the surface of a pool. Jane first dives down 5 feet, and then dives down 3 more feet. Sarah first dives down 3 feet, then dives down 5 more feet.

The order of which you add two integers does not effect the sum for example:

Jane dives five feet then three feet, that is 5+3= 7 ft.

Sarah dives three feet then five feet, that is 3+5= 7ft

as you can see they both dived the same exact feet, the order does not matter.

Answer:

No

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that Jane first dives down 5 feet and then dives down 3 more feet and Sarah dives first 3 feet down and then she dives down 5 more feet

We have to find that the order in which two integers are added with the same sign affect the sum or not.

Jane first dives down=5 feet

After that he dives down=3 more feet

Jane dives total in pool=5+3=8 feet

Sarah dives first =3 feet

After that she dives more distance =5 feet

Sarah dives total in pool=5+3=8 feet

Hence, the order in which we are adding two integers with same sign does not affect the sum.
