Only about 36% of the energy from petrol is used to move a car. What happens to the rest of it?

Hmm not sure that math is correct but we must remember that energy is never destroyed just transferred. E.g light energy is transferred into heat. So when looking at a car we have
1.friction energy. This is the car running alone the road and wind.
2. Kentic energy. This is the car moving.
3.heat energy. When petrol combust it produces heat energy.
