Simplifying expressions is easy as all we must do is combine like-terms.

8c-4-2c+5 Here, we can see that the "c's" are like terms and the regular numbers are like terms.
6c-4+5 We combined the -2 and 8 to get 6, and then added our "c" back.

6c+1 Here, we simply added the -4 and 5, or simply put 5-4, which equals 1.

Using the math above, we can see that the simplest form of this equation is 6c+1.

Collect and simplify like terms.

8c - 4 - 2c + 5
= (8c - 2c) + (-4 + 5)
= (6c) + (1)
= 6c + 1

Therefore your answer is 6c + 1
