A summer carnival charges a $2 admission fee and $0.50 for each ride. If Tamara has $10 to spend, how many rides can she go on?

well First of all let's set up an equation for this problem.
It starts off by charging $2 which is our y intercept
and for every ride it's .50 cents so that would be our slope.
This problem can be put into
y=mx+b
or as called slope intercept form
mx= .50 because is the rate of change and b=2 because it's what we start y=10 because it's what Tamara budget is
so the equation would be
10=.50x+2
all we have to do now is solve for x
x would be 16
So Tamara can go on 16 rides with $10

10-2=8
8×2=16
