Let's write the problem.

2x-4-5x=2
Add like terms...

-3x-4=2
Add
4 to both sides.

-3x-4+4=2+4

-3x=6
Divide both sides by
-3.

(-3x)/(-3)=(6)/(-3)

Our final answer would be,

x=-2
