Parallel = same slope.

Therefore the line must have a slope of a 5. So plug in (1,-3) into the equation and solve for b to get your line.

Y = 5x + b
-3 = 5(1)
-3 = 5 + b
-8 = b

Therefore your line is Y = 5x - 8

y = 5x + 2....slope here is 5. A parallel line will have the same slope.

y = mx + b
slope(m) = 5
(1,-3)...x = 1 and y = -3
now sub and find b, the y int
-3 = 5(1) + b
-3 = 5 + b
-3 - 5 = b
-8 = b

so ur equation is : y = 5x - 8
