If you add 164 and 208 you get 372. After that you would subtract the original number from 372 ( 372-248) giving you the answer of 124. This means that 124 people do both exercises.

Answer:

124 members

Explanation:

Suppose L represents the number of members of lift weight and C represents the number of members who perform cardiovascular exercises,

So, according to the question,

n(L) = 164,

n(C) = 208

n(L∪C) = 248,

∵ n(L∪C) = n(L) + n(C) - n(L∩C)

⇒ 248 = 164 + 208 - n(L∩C)

⇒ 248 + n(L∩C) = 372

n(L∩C) = 372 - 248 = 124

Hence, 124 members do both lift weights and cardiovascular exercises.
