Find the diameter of a cone that has a volume of 104.67 cubic inches and a height of 4 inches. Use 3.14 for pi.

Filling in what we have:


104.67=(1)/(3)(3.14)r^2(4) and simplifying a bit:


104.67=(1)/(3)(12.56)r^2

Multiply both sides by 3 to get:


314.01=12.56r^2

Divide both sides by 12.56 to get:


25.00079618=r^2 and take the square root of both sides to find the radius:

r = 5

If the radius is 5 and the radius by definition is half the diameter, then the diameter is 10 inches.
