okay so I'm going to set up a equation:
5.27= 3.40+ 0.85x, we have our total our price of one pineapple and our variable
next I isolate the variable:
5.27-3.40=0.85x
next:
1.87=0.85x
x= 2.2
she bought 2.2 pounds of tomatoes
