0.5a - 0.3 = 5 \ |* 10 \\\\ 5a-3=50 \ |+3 \\\\ 5a=53 \ |:5 \\\\ a=(53)/(5) \\\\ a=10(3)/(5)\\\\ a=10.6

0.5a - 0.3 = 5

Add 0.3 to both sides:

0.5a = 5.3

Divide both sides by 0.5:

a = 10.6
