x = 2 + y and 3x – 7y = 10. Let's arrange the 2 equation:

x - y = 2
3x - 7y = 10

1st step, eliminate x in multiplying the 1st equation by - 3

- 3 (x) - 3( -y) = -3(2) ↔ -3x +3y = -6. Now add this equation to the 2nd one:

-3x +3y = -6
3x - 7y = 10
-------- ----
0.x - 4y = 4 → y = - 1
Last stem, replace y = -4 in any equation & you'll find x = 1

Solution x = 1 & y = -1

{x = 2 + y
{3x - 7y = 10

3(2+y) - 7y = 10
6 + 3y - 7y = 10
- 4y = 10 - 6
-4y = 4
y = -1

x = 2+y = 2 + (-1) = 2-1 = 1

Answer: x=1, y=-1
