Both the ancient chinese and ancient Indus valley civilizations practiced
polytheism, which is which is the act of worshipping multiple gods. Also, since they both were ruled by a king/queen it was a requirement to worship this religion, and to most citizens it became the same as going to work or school. They believed that not worshipping the gods would bring disaster.
