Japanese wooden architecture uses a series of cross- and counter- Beams to support the elaborate curved roofs of early temples
Beams as a building foundation is more complicated than the normal foundation but it create a stronger foundation.
The japanese started to used this because they have to experience constant earthquake due to their Geographical location
