y=mx+b, slope is m
so f(x)=4x+2, slope is 4
slope of line passing through (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) is (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
so slope between (0,-2) and (1,3) is (3-(-2))/(1-0)=(3+2)/1=5/1=5
f(x) slope is 4
g(x) slope is 5
