For the graph y = 12 find the slope of a line that is perpendicular to it and the slope of a line parallel to it. Explain your answer with two or more sentences.

Y= 0 would be perpendicular because it's a horizontal line, and x= 12 is a vertical line
X=0 would be parallel because they are both vertical lines

Answer: The slope of a line that is parallel to it = zero.

There is no slope of a line perpendicular to it.


Explanation:

For the graph y=12 ,

Since slope of line
m_1=\frac{\text{change in y}}{\text{change in x}}=\frac{0}{\text{change in x}}=0 [as there is no change in y coordinate]

Hence, the slope of line y=12 is zero

, thus every line parallel to y=12 has same slope , i.e. zero

Let the slope of line parallel to it be
m_2, then


m_1*\ m_2=-1\\\Rightarrow\ m_2=(-1)/(m_1)=(1)/(0)=\infty

Thus, there is no slope of line perpendicular to y=12 .
