In quadrant 2, x is negative which means x < 0. Also, in quadrant 2, y is positive so y > 0.

An example point that is located in quadrant 2 is the point (-5, 8). Note how the first coordinate is -5 so x = -5 which is negative. Furthermore, the second coordinate is 8 meaning that y = 8 which is positive.

Quadrant 2 is the quadrant on the upper left-hand side of the four quadrants on the xy coordinate system.
