If a = kb where k is a constant and a = 12 when b = 15, what is the value of a when b =12?

a = kb

12 = k15
divide equation by 15 to make k the subject.
k = 4/5 or 0.8

a = kb
a = 0.8 x 12
a = 9.6

(0.6 as a fraction is 3/5)

therefore, a = 9 and 3/5
