The population of a certain town increased by 2% from 35,000. What was the population after the increase?

Just like the other answers, except I will be more specific. So basically, you need to add 2% of 35000 to 35000. So this is the equation you must solve:

35,000 + (2/100 x 35000) = 35000 + 700 = 35700

2% of 35,000 is 700. 35,000+700=35,700. The population after the increase would be 35,700.
