A set of magnets cost $6.40. The store is offering a 10% discount on the magnets. Alicia Buys 2 sets of magnets with the discount. Assuming there is no tax, how much money does Alicia pay for the magnets?

One set costs $6.40, so two sets would be $12.80. ($6.4 * 2). To find 10%, move the decimal place one spot to the left. After that, you get $1.28 as 10% of $12.80. Multiply $1.28 by 9 to get 90% of the original price, which is $11.58. Hope this helps!

One set of magnet with 10% discount would cost
(6.4)*(1-0.10) =
6.4*0.9 = 5.76
For two sets of magnets
5.76*2 =11.52
