Answer:

Not equivalent: (cos^2(x) - 1) cot(-x)

Explanation:

The expression (cos^2(x) - 1) cot(-x) is not equivalent to (1 − sin2(x)) tan(-x).

we are asked in this problem to simplify the expression (1 − sin2(x)) tan(-x). We can see that there is a double angle trigonometric function here. sin 2x is equal to 2 sinx cosx while tan (-x) is equal to -sin x/ cos x in which when substituted,

(1- 2 sinx cosx)*(-sin x/cosx)
-sinx/cos x + 2sin^2(x)
-tan x + 2sin^2 (x)
