Bob's Skate Shop had a profit of $3,563 during the month of August. The company models its profit using p=x^2+10x-12 , where x is the number of skateboards the company sells. How many skateboards did the company sell during the month of August?

In order to solve this for x, the number of skateboards sold, you have to factor it. I found this easiest to do by using the quadratic formula. When you do that you get x values of both 55 and -65. We know that the number of skateboards sold cannot be a negative number, so the answer is 55 skateboards.
