I think that the idea is something like this:
- 509 + 985 = 476
So the question must be: " Roman civilization began in 509 BC and ended in 985 years later ( not 985 BC years later, it does not have a sense )".
Answer:
Roman civilization ended in 476 AD ( and it is historically true ).
