Supporters of the Dawes Act said the act would help American Indians to:
become farmers
The Dawes act gave the Government the power to Break up the stolen lands and give it back to individual Indians. These lands could be used as an opportunity to be leveraged into Agriculture business so the Indians could have more sustainable economy.
