Explanation:

Total number of cards in a standard deck = 52 cards.

total number of diamonds = 13 cards

total number of queens = 4 cards.

We should remember that in 13 cards of diamonds there is one queen. so total diamonds and queens are = 13 + 3 = 16 cards

The probability that Jack picked a diamond or a queen

= 16 / 52 = 4 / 13
