We have that the scale is 1inch:3feet, and that the sides of the rectangle are 8 inches and 6 inches:

We convert the inches into the original scale by multiplying each side by 3 feet:

s_1=8inches\cdot\frac{3\text{feet}}{1\text{inch}}\Rightarrow s_1=24\text{feet}
s_2=6\text{inches}\cdot\frac{3\text{feet}}{1\text{inch}}\Rightarrow s_2=18\text{feet}

Now that we have the original measurements, we determine the area of the rectangle by replacing the values previously calculated in the following funtion:

A=s_1\cdot s_2\Rightarrow A=432

From this, we have that the area of the room is 432 feet^2
