The purpose of a sodium diet is to regulate the level of the salt in the body. The persons which suffer from hypertension are prescribed with 2 gram of sodium diet along with low-fat diet regime, in order to prevent further damage to the arteries which supplies blood. This also prevents the reabsorption of the water in the distal tubules.
