Why did many people of the Mauryan Empire turn to Buddhism?

They felt divided from Hindu priests and gods.
They wanted the caste system to have more power.
They rejected practices such as meditation.
They believed in nonviolence, which was not an aspect of Hinduism.

"They felt divided from Hindu priests and gods" would be the answer:

But the question is a serious over-generalization.

D is not correct because the Hindu people only killed for their own safety and Hindu people did believe in nonviolence. B and C are not correct either because Buddhism and Hindu do not need more power in the caste system, that was unimportant to them. Meditating, not in any possibility! So the answer is pretty clear to me, A: 'They felt divided from Hindu priests and Gods'

Good Luck on your test!
