You Simplify both sides of the equation. 8(1−5x)=13 Simplify: (8)(1)+(8)(5x)=13(Distribute) 8+40x=1340x+8=13 Step 2: Subtract 8 from both sides.40x+8−8=13−840x=5 Step 3: Divide both sides by -40.40x/−40 = 5/−40 x=−1/8 Answer:x=−1/8

Perform indicated multiplications on left side.

8-40x=13 subtract 8 from both sides

-40x=5 divide both sides by -40

x=-5/40

x=-1/8

Note: There are no mixed numbers in this problem.
