For two lines to be parallel, their slopes must be equal. Then for two lines to be perpendicular, their slopes must be negative inverses of each other. We shall start by expressing the lines given, in slope-intercept form as shown below;


\begin{gathered} (1)y=3x-4 \\ (2)3x-y=7 \\ y=3x-7 \end{gathered}

The slope is given as the coefficient of x.

Since the coeeficient of x is the same for both equations, then the lines are parallel.
