Following the death of Rwandan President Juvenal Habyarimana, a genocidal campaign agaisnt the ethnicity known as the Tutsi was sparked by the hands of the Hutu, another African ethnicity with a long history of stigma against the Tutsi. The campaign claimed the lives of around 800,000 Rwandans in the space of 100 days, where most of the victims were of Tutsi origin.
The Hutu started their attack on the pretext that the Tutsi were responsible for the death of President Habyarimana, given he is a Hutu.
