The slope of the line between two points is known as the rate of change in the relation.

A relation with a constant rate of change is linear, while a relation with different rates of change between points is nonlinear (quadratic, cubic, etc.).

The rate of change in the relation shown below is _____.

Enter your answer in one of two ways:

• as a reduced ratio, like this: 2/3

• as the phrase not constant, like this: not constant

slope=rise/run or changeiny/changeinx or (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) or (y1-y2)/(x1-x2)

so

pick any 2 points
(x,y)
(0,17) and (1,23)
slope=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
so
(23-17)/(1-0)=6/1=6
slope is 6
