A=(base* height)/(2)

We have been given the area as 8 square meters.

Let the base be = b

The sail is four times as high as it is wide, so the height will be = 4b

Putting the values in formula:


8=(b * 4b)/(2)


8=(4b^(2))/(2)

=>
4b^(2) =16

=>
b^(2) =4

b=2

So, the base is 2 feet.

And the height will be
4*2=8 feet.
