I would say "a" as I personally would be more likely to give someone what they are asking for if they gave me reasonable evidence why they deserve a raise over receiving a smile or how I perceive their body language.

Answer:

A.state your purpose with supporting evidence

Step-by-step explanation:

When you want to ask your boss for a raise you must prepare yourself to show that you are worthy of the raise. Before asking for a raise you must know what is the worth of your work in your geographical area since the value varies from one region to another. Tell your boss about your accomplishments, because your boss must know that you are worthy of the raise.
