For the lines p and q to be parallel the measure of angle 4x must be equal to angle (3x + 30). As these are pair of alternate exterior angles. So,

4x=3x+30

Simplify the equation for x.

\begin{gathered} 4x=3x+30 \\ 4x-3x=30 \\ x=30 \end{gathered}

Thus value of x is 30.
