Perpendicular to y=
:
m=-4, point passes thru (2, -5)
y-(-5)=-4(x-2)
y+5=-4x+8
y=-4x+3

Perpendicular lines have reciprocal slopes, so we have the slope
1/4
so the slope of the perpendicular line is
-4
. We input the given point to find the
y-intercept
.
-5 = -4(2) + b
b = 3
So the equation that is perpendicular is y = -4x + 3
