PLEASE HELP!!!!! I NEED THE ANSWER IN AN HOUR

Write the equation of line, in slope-intercept form, that is perpendicular to y=1/4x and passes through the point (2, -5). Your answer must be in y = mx + b form or will be marked wrong.

Perpendicular to y=
(1)/(4) x: m=-4, point passes thru (2, -5)

y-y_(1)=m(x-x_(1))
y-(-5)=-4(x-2)
y+5=-4x+8
y=-4x+3

Perpendicular lines have reciprocal slopes, so we have the slope 1/4 so the slope of the perpendicular line is -4. We input the given point to find the y-intercept.

-5 = -4(2) + b
b = 3

So the equation that is perpendicular is y = -4x + 3
