Which ordered pair could you remove from the relation {(–2, –1), (–1, 1), (–1, 0), (0, 1), (1, 0)} so that it becomes a function?

Either -1,1 or -1, 0......  -1 cannot be 1 and 0 at the same time.

Answer:

the relation {(–2, –1), (–1, 1), (0, 1), (1, 0)} is a function

the relation {(–2, –1), (–1, 0), (0, 1), (1, 0)} is a function

Explanation:

the relation {(–2, –1), (–1, 1), (–1, 0), (0, 1), (1, 0)}

A relation is a function , when each input has only one output

First number in the relation is the input x

second number is the output y

The given relation is not a function because input -1 has to output 1 and 0

(–1, 1), (–1, 0)

To make this relation as a function , we need to remove (-1,1) or (-1,0)

the relation {(–2, –1), (–1, 1), (0, 1), (1, 0)} is a function

the relation {(–2, –1), (–1, 0), (0, 1), (1, 0)} is a function
