Explain how to use place value to round 286 to the nearest 10

easy
286 rounded to tenths place is 290 because if the number after the tenths place is 5 or above you make it on tenths place larger and if its 4 or under then you make the number after the tenths place a 0

when you round 286 to the nearest 10 it becomes 290 because the 6 is bigger then the 5 so that means that the number has to go up anything bigger than 5 goes up anything lower than 5 goes down
