The Anti-Federalists were a group of citizens who were against the implementation of the new US Constitution due to fear of a federal government. The Anti-Federalists were still worried about a strong central government based on their experiences as colonists when under the control of Great Britain. The central government, while under British control, became corrupt and tyrannical according to this group.

This is why this group feared the new Constitution, as they felt that the Constitution would make the executive branch (president) too much like a King.
