(1) South Africa is strategically located for renewable energy due to its proximity to the equator, resulting in longer exposure to daylight and it is surrounded by coasts, which brings in strong winds. (2) Lesser dependence on coal for energy source and income generation. Coal as an industry is seen to be harmful to workers and the environment. (3) The renewable energy sector can bring in a lot of steady jobs for the south Africans.
