(08.03) Consider the following pair of equations:

y = 3x + 3
y = x − 1

Explain how you will solve the pair of equations by substitution. Show all the steps and write the solution in (x, y) form.

Easy. Its in y=mx+b form. 3 is the slope and the other 3 is the y intercept. By substitution, you need at least one point on a graph, for example (3,5) THe same goes for the bottom. The slope is 1, so we leave it as x. the -1 just means that the y intercept is a -1.You cant solve this problem without a point, so answer that you use a point on a graph to substitute x and y for graph points.
